    Britfilms.com is the official page of the Film Department of the British Council, which aims to promote British films and filmmaking both at home and abroad. On this website, users can find information on England's national film output since 1998, general information on the British Council, and links to other British film organizations.
  • British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA)  
    BAFTA is the leading independent charity supporting, developing, and promoting the art forms of the moving image in the UK, from Film and Television to Video Games and Interactive Media. The website offers articles, photos, videos, podcasts, a guide to directing, a calendar of events, as well as a searchable database of BAFTA award winners.
  • British Pathe Limited  
    British Pathe Limited makes available 75 years of English newsreel footage. Users can join the site at no cost and download the films for private usage. The database's search function allows user to search by keyword, title, or theme. Very highly recommended.
  • California Newsreel  
    California Newsreel is the leading supplier of social justice documentaries with an emphasis on works that advance "racial justice and diversity, and the study of African American life and history as well as African culture and politics." In addition to the films that it sells and rents, this website also features a number of articles about the history of California Newsreel and the films it distributes.
  • Center for Visual Music  
    The Center for Visual Music is a nonprofit film archive dedicated to visual music, experimental animation, and avant-garde media. Its website offers an online library, an official research page for filmmaker/painter Oskar Fischinger, information about traveling curated film programs and membership, an online store, and galleries.
  • Chaplin: A Life  
    A website on the life of Charlie Chaplin by Stephen Weissman, a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. The site features a collection of 40 photo essays about the actor with pictures and videos, as well as a news and blog page.
  • CNN Image Source  
    Search thousands of clips originally broadcast on CNN. Some clips can be streamed from their website, but others have to be ordered.
  • Communications Studies Resources: Political Ads  
    A list of online articles and resources about political advertisements.
  • Critical Commons  
    Critical Commons is a non-profit advocacy coalition that supports the use of media for teaching, learning, and creativity by providing resources, information, and tools for scholars, students, educators and creators. The website offers film, television, and video clips, accompanied by commentary.
  • DEFA Film Library  
    The DEFA Film Library, at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, is the only film archive outside of Europe specializing in the films of East Germany. The library makes films from East Germany available in the United States either for purchase or rental.
  • Digital Meme  
    As the only distributor of multilingual DVDs of early Japanese cinema, Digital Meme is an invaluable resource. In addition to making these films available to educators through DVD sales, Digital Meme also offers a film rental service.
  • Digital Snow  
    The 2002 DVD-Rom Digital Snow showcases Michael Snow's body of work and has garnered several prizes. The Daniel Langlois Foundation, with permission from Michael Snow and Anarchive, adapted the DVD-Rom for this site. It features texts, drawings, and notes by the artist; texts on the artist; 2-D and 3-D animations and simulations; audio recordings: sound works and improvised music by Michael Snow and the group CCMC; film excerpts; photo reproductions of his work; bibliographies and directories; and a searchable database.
  • eScholarship Editions  
    The eScholarship Editions collection includes almost 2000 books from academic presses on a range of topics, including art, science, history, music, religion, and fiction. Over 500 of the titles are available to the public. There are 59 books available under the subject ¡°Cinema and Performance Arts.¡±
  • Europa Film Treasures  
    Europa Film Treasures is an online film catalogue created by a consortium of European film archives. It offers free access, via streaming, to more than 400 films presented with extensive historical notes in five languages, and categorized by time period, country of origin, and genre.
  • Experimental Cinema  
    This resource devoted to experimental and underground film offers news, articles, photos, online videos, a bibliography-filmography, a calendar, and an open space for discussion that allows members to add content to the site.
  • Film Festival World  
    The website allows you to browse festivals by date (calls for entries and festival openings), location, genre, and offers resources such as short films online, a list of academies and awards, The Essential Film Blog Reader, a list of ezines and journals, and selected profiles of film distributors.

  • Flicker  
    A comprehensive and frequently updated guide to the experimental film scene, with links to artist and venue websites and a calendar of upcoming screenings.
  • FOCAL International  
    Based out of England, "the Federation of Commercial Audiovisual Libraries [FOCAL] International Ltd, is a not-for-profit professional trade association providing excellent networking and marketing opportunities for content industry professionals". Although it is chiefly designed for members, FOCAL's website also contains a number of articles selected from its publication, Archive Zones.
